Healthcare Investments
The Burnratty Investment Group is a Kampala-based buyer of private healthcare businesses. We acquire and partner with founder-led hospitals and medical practices in Uganda, then in the wider East African region, and hold them as a single operating platform.
Why this market
Private healthcare in Uganda and East Africa is still largely independent. Capable facilities sit beside one another with separate buying, separate systems, and no shared clinical backbone. Owners who built those practices often want a successor, growth capital, or a quieter next chapter — without handing the work to a distant group that does not know the catchment.
We are founded here. Conversations happen in person. That proximity is the advantage: we can sit with an owner, understand the licence and the ward, and move only as fast as the file will support.
How we invest
We buy operating healthcare businesses — not greenfield ideas. Typical conversations are with licensed hospitals, specialist centres, and established practices where the founder is ready for a full exit, a staged sale, or a stay-on partnership.
After close, local clinical leadership stays in place. The group takes on finance, procurement, compliance, and the work of joining sites into one platform. Continuity of care is the first test of whether an acquisition was done properly.
How the platform is built
Growth is by acquisition, then by running what we bought. We add facilities where they strengthen a catchment and where integration can be done cleanly. A larger regional platform is the aim. A well-run first cluster is the method.
We do not publish a public pricing formula, a target list, or a dated claim to market share. Terms are private. Each file is reviewed on licences, quality, accounts, and legal standing before anyone is asked to sign.
What we owe the asset
A hospital is not a roll-up slide. It is a licence, a payroll, and a community. We stay on the right side of regulation. We do not ask a seller to move faster than the accounts and the clinical record will bear. Revenue discipline, cost control, and better patient flow matter — after the practice is safe.
